RHS Potato Trials & Awards

It was a pleasure to supply samples of the following for evaluation in this season's trials.  We are looking forward to the results.

• Orla – A reliable, high-yielding second early with good resistance to common potato diseases and excellent all-round kitchen use.
• Sarpo Kifli – A blight-resistant maincrop producing attractive finger-shaped tubers with a firm texture and rich flavour.
• Anya – A distinctive fingerling variety with knobbly tubers, a nutty flavour and excellent salad qualities.
• Belle de Fontenay – A classic French heritage salad potato, prized for its fine texture and exceptional flavour.
• Bambino – A compact salad variety producing small, uniform tubers that are ideal for containers and smaller growing spaces.
• Colleen – An early-maturing variety with smooth skin, shallow eyes and good resistance to common scab.
• Gatsby – A high-yielding maincrop with attractive red skin, good disease resistance and excellent storage potential.
• Heidi Red – A striking red-fleshed potato with a firm texture, good flavour and impressive colour retention after cooking.
• Sunset – A colourful red-skinned, yellow-fleshed variety producing good yields of attractive tubers with excellent culinary versatility.

The trials also include varieties supplied by other growers and breeders within the potato industry.  The following we also grow and offer ourselves. 

• Casablanca – An attractive first early with bright white skin, excellent flavour and strong resistance to common scab.
• Charlotte – A hugely popular salad variety with firm waxy flesh that holds its shape well when cooked.
• Foremost – A very early variety producing good yields of smooth, oval tubers with excellent eating quality.
• Jacky – A high-yielding first early with good disease resistance and attractive, uniform tubers.
• Jazzy – A prolific salad potato producing masses of small, tasty tubers that are ideal for boiling and summer salads.
• Maris Bard – An early favourite known for its rapid maturity, smooth skin and good all-round cooking qualities.
• Maris Peer – A reliable second early with excellent flavour and firm texture, particularly suited to salads and boiling.
• Nicola – A classic salad potato producing long, waxy tubers with exceptional flavour and texture.
• Pentland Javelin – A vigorous first early that combines heavy yields with good disease resistance and excellent flavour.
• Ratte – A celebrated French fingerling variety prized for its distinctive nutty flavour and firm texture.
• Red Duke of York – A heritage favourite with attractive red skin, yellow flesh and a rich, buttery flavour.
• Rocket – One of the earliest potatoes available, producing quick crops of smooth, white-skinned tubers.
• Sharpe's Express – A Victorian heritage variety still popular today for its excellent flavour and reliable early harvests.
